About ADP
In 1949, Henry Taub established Automatic Payrolls, Inc. as a traditional payroll processing enterprise with his sibling Joe Taub. Frank Lautenberg allied with the siblings during the enterprise’s nascent stage. By 1957, Lautenberg, after excelling in sales and marketing, became a full-fledged associate with the two siblings. In 1961, the enterprise rebranded itself to Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (ADP), and began utilizing punched card apparatuses, check printing devices, and mainframe systems. ADP went public in 1961 with 300 clientele, 125 personnel, and earnings of approximately US$400,000. The enterprise inaugurated a subsidiary in the United Kingdom in 1965. In 1970, Lautenberg was acknowledged as being the president of the enterprise. Also in 1970, the enterprise’s stock transitioned from trading on the American Stock Exchange to trading on the New York Stock Exchange. It acquired the trailblazing online computer services enterprise Time Sharing Limited (TSL) in 1974 and Cyphernetics in 1975.
